THE SECOND SEMESTER BSc Nursing students of Lisie College of Nursing conducted Nutrition Practical named ‘MEALADORA 2023’ as a part of their curriculum on 18 and 19 august 2023. 71 students were divided into four groups named Alimentos, Scrumptious, Nutrito,and Nutrimax. On 18 th august students prepared BALANCED DIET for childhood (3-6yrs), adolescents, elderly and pregnant mother. On 19 th august students prepared THERAPEUTIC DIET for diabetic mellitus, renal diseases, iron deficiency anaemia and cardiovascular diseases. On both days, nutrition practical was conducted as two sessions. 7am to 11.30 am students, cooked a day menu for the assigned category followed by presentation of RDA, Sample menu plan, caloric value of food items included in menu plan and methods of preparation of each dish with the display of ingredients used. Presentation was attended and evaluated by Vice principal Prof.Dr. Lissa Peter and faculty of College of Nursing. After the presentation the teaching faculty and non-teaching faculty joined to taste the food prepared by the students. The nutrition practical sessions were an opportunity for students to understand the depth of applied nutrition and dietetics topics included in curriculum and also was a platform to bring out their culinary skills, teamwork, creativity and hospitality. Mrs Jency John and Mrs. Sali Thomas faculty college of nursing/ subject charges provided guidance to the students for conducting the same.
