The lamp lighting ceremony formally recognizes the students’ entry into the nursing profession. It is an important event, where the lamp symbolizes the light that a nurse becomes to her patients and as a symbol of hope and comfort to those who are suffering. Students light this lamp as a commitment, and they recite the student nurses’ pledge. The program commenced with a prayer song and Ms. Remya Xavier, Nursing Tutor, Lisie School of Nursing welcomed the gathering. The ceremony was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Dr. Paul Karedan, Director, Lisie Medical and Educational Institutions, and addressed the young student nurses with the importance of kindness in their profession. Rev. Fr. George Thelekatt (Asst. Director, Lisie Medical and Educational Institutions), and Rev. Sr. Anslem CSC (Nursing Administrator, Lisie Hospital) also congratulated the students on this event and blessed them to practice their profession with sincerity and loyalty. A total of 27 students of first-year General Nursing received the light from Prof. Dr. Usha Marath (Principal, Lisie College & School of Nursing, and Rev.
