The fourth year B.Sc. Nursing students of Lisie College of Nursing, 2019 batch had conducted a School Health Program in St. Philomena’s L.P. School, Koonammavu on 13 July 2023 under the supervision of Dr. Bindu John, Associate Professor and Ms. Steffy Chacko, Assistant Professor. This was done as a part of their Community Health Clinical experience and aimed at promoting the health of school pupils by assessing their health needs, and develop leadership and organizational skills in planning and conducting a health program at school. The programme started with an introduction by the School Head Mistress Mrs. Shajimole K Thomas, followed by a puppet show, and a health exhibition on ‘Healthy habits’, ‘ Protection of eye’, and personal hygiene’. Afterwards, a health education to all pupils in their successive classes was conducted on ‘Discrimination of touch’, ‘Good health habits’, and ‘Effect of media on eye health’. This was followed by a basic health check up of all school personnel. Three hundred and fifty pupils and 23 school staff had participated in this programme.
